Venues That Handle the Details for You
Would you rather hand off the catering, the bar and the setup than line up vendors yourself? Two places in Pagosa Springs can take that on.
The Springs Resort & Spa
The Springs Resort sits on the San Juan River and offers 157 guest rooms and more than 45 geothermal soaking pools. Guests can stay, soak, and celebrate without having to leave. The resort runs a group program with access to two meeting spaces.
Book further ahead than feels necessary. This is the most in-demand property in town between June and September, and you’re competing with destination weddings for the same weekends.
Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts
The Center for the Arts converts into a concert hall, theater, conference room, and reception space, and includes a dance floor and a stage for a band, a DJ, or speeches.
The season, date, event type, and number of hours you book all affect pricing for this venue. The fee covers furnishings, sound and projection equipment, bar service, and staffing.

Ranches and Riverside Properties Where Guests Can Stay

Paradise Ranch
Few outdoor venues around here come with their own roof. Paradise Ranch has a covered pavilion, making it one of the safer outdoor bets during monsoon season. It also has cabins and nightly lodging on the property, so the family or the wedding party can stay put.
Ask what the pavilion holds on its own, separately from the grounds. You’ll care about the covered space on a July afternoon, and it usually holds fewer people than the field around it.
Fireside Cabins
Got a large guest list? Fireside Cabins can fit up to 250 people, which is more than anywhere else in town. It sits on the river at 1600 East Highway 160, close to downtown and the hot springs, and events run May through September.
The cabin options require a two-night minimum. Nine one-bedroom cabins sleep four, and six two-bedroom cabins sleep six.
The base fee covers the riverfront ceremony space, tent setup space, parking, and use of the pavilion and fire pit during the reception.
You bring the rest: catering equipment, tables, chairs, linens, and decor. Portable restrooms are required.
Keyah Grande
Keyah Grande has eight suites. What you get in exchange is 6,000 gated acres at 13211 W Hwy 160, a guest house, on-site dining, and a spa, with the option to take the whole property.
For a milestone birthday or an anniversary where the setting is the occasion, it’s the most memorable address in the area.
For anything over a couple dozen people, you’ll have to lodge the overflow in town and shuttle guests out, which defeats most of the reason to book it.
Town and County Parks for a Smaller or Outdoor Party
Planning a birthday, a graduation or a family get-together instead of a destination wedding? A town park will almost always make more sense than a private venue, and Pagosa Springs has good ones.
Reservoir Hill
Reservoir Hill has a large wooden gazebo in the festival meadow that you can rent for a wedding or a reunion, plus restrooms, trails and a disc golf course on the same hill. Call Parks & Recreation at 970-264-4152 to book it.
The gazebo anchors a party; it won’t seat one. Plan on renting tables and chairs for everyone who isn’t standing, and bring your own shade if you’re going midday.
Town Park and Centennial Park
Here’s the detail that makes Town Park worth a look: it has two 200-amp special-event electrical services. Most public parks give you a picnic table and good luck. Two circuits that size will run a band, string lighting and catering equipment without a generator, which takes a real cost out of your budget.
Both parks sit downtown along the Riverwalk. Town Park also has picnic tables, barbecue grills, bathrooms, a drinking fountain, a wind harp and a white-water feature. Centennial Park has picnic tables and pedestrian bridges.
Now the best part if you’re planning something normal-sized: a small private gathering like a family picnic or a birthday party can use the town parks on a first-come, first-served basis with no permit at all, as long as nobody has a permitted event or a prior reservation that day.

Cloman Park
Want somewhere quieter with something for guests to do? Cloman Park sits northwest of downtown off Piedra Road, at the end of Stephens Lake Road on Cloman Blvd. It has an 18-hole disc golf course, hiking and biking trails, and groomed cross-country ski trails in winter.
Day use is free. A private event needs a Special Use Permit from the Archuleta County Administration Office, and reservations go first come, first served. The county doesn’t publish a fee or a deadline for it, and asks that documents and fees come in as far ahead of your event as possible, so start early.
The disc golf course is the reason to pick this one. A party that runs several hours goes better when people have something to do between eating and cake.
Permits for a Party in a Pagosa Springs Park
Within town limits, a Park Use Permit is required for any event open to public participation or that would interfere with normal park use. Submit it through Parks & Recreation; the application is due 45 days before your event.
Small private gatherings don’t need one. Outside town limits, you’re with Archuleta County and its Special Use Permit instead, through the county Administration Office.
Neither the town nor the county publishes a guest-count threshold that triggers a permit. Call the office and ask what applies to your event. Then plan backward from 45 days, because that deadline usually arrives before the venue’s calendar becomes the problem.
