That is the starting point for a party, a picnic, or a ceremony in a park.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The permit center handles the bigger cases.<\/strong> A citywide special event, or one that wants vendors, street closures, or alcohol sales, is routed there instead of being settled at the park. If your event involves any of those, expect that conversation early.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Some parks carry their own overlay.<\/strong> Balboa Park, Presidio Park, and the shoreline parks sit under a developed regional parks policy with stricter rules than the general ones, and Mission Bay Park has designated areas of its own. Inflatables are prohibited outright in Balboa Park, in Presidio Park, and across the shoreline parks.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mission Bay is the exception.<\/strong> Inflatables are permitted in designated areas of Mission Bay Park, by permit only. A generator must be pre-arranged as part of the permit process before the event, so include it in your application, not in your van on the day.<\/li>\n<li><strong>If a generator is approved<\/strong>, a drip tray goes under it, and cables must be covered and kept clear of foot traffic.<\/li>\n<li><strong>There is no water hookup either.<\/strong> Plan for what you are bringing to drink and wash with.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Amplified sound needs written approval<\/strong> on the final permit, and amplification run off a generator is not allowed without one.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Egg tosses are plastic eggs only<\/strong>, and food tosses of any kind are out. The daily license is open to qualifying organizations: a charitable or civic body, a fraternal, religious, or political one, with different tests depending on whether you want a general license or beer-and-wine only. The state&#8217;s own page lists what counts.<\/p>\n<p>A private host does not qualify for one.
