Expect to provide proof of insurance.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Property Management<\/strong> holds Gallier Hall, Duncan Plaza, and City Hall, and books them through its own event coordinator, so go there directly.<\/li>\n<li><strong>City Park<\/strong> is a state agency, so the city&#8217;s park rules stop at its edge. It issues its own event permits, and its page says very little about tents, alcohol, or what&#8217;s banned, so ask the park directly. Roping off a lawn so the public can&#8217;t walk through is in scope there even for a small group. The fire department&#8217;s tent review still applies.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Audubon Park<\/strong> is run by a nonprofit and issues its own permits, so the city&#8217;s rules stop at its gate. The only exemption is a tent used for recreational camping.<\/p>\n<p>Two things travel with every tent: a certificate showing the fabric is flame-resistant, which your rental company should be able to hand you, and a plot plan showing where the tent sits and how it&#8217;s laid out. Ask for both when you reserve.<\/p>\n<p>Bigger tents pick up more than that. The police approve your route and supply a paid escort at your expense, so build it into the budget early. Throws count as debris, so the clean-up contract goes in alongside.<\/p>\n<p>Block parties carry one requirement worth knowing before you plan around them. Every resident, owner, or manager on the block must sign the petition; a majority is not enough. The permit also waits on a police security review, so start knocking on doors long before you order anything. You can put out, keep in place, and take away barricades and closure signage, but the block still has to stay clear for emergency vehicles. You also can&#8217;t sell anything on the public right-of-way.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"serving-alcohol-at-your-event\">Serving Alcohol at Your Event<\/h2>\n<p>Louisiana&#8217;s state permit is open to anyone, but New Orleans is stricter, and the local rule governs: a special event alcohol permit here goes only to nonprofits, or to businesses that already hold a year-round ABO license at a brick-and-mortar location. A private host is neither.<\/p>\n<p>The state route closes behind it too, because the state application asks for the local permit or a letter from the local authority. That leaves one workable path: a licensed venue or caterer pouring under their own year-round license. Ask them to confirm in writing that it covers your date and your setup.
