Group picnic reservations open on a published schedule each year for the coming season, so popular sites fill up fast.<\/p>\n<p>The county&#8217;s rules live in Chapter 765 of its charter, which is a long document but the authoritative one. That carve-out is the practical route for most gatherings.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Selling is reserved.<\/strong> The sale of alcohol is prohibited except by authorised concessionaires of the Parks Department, so a cash bar of your own is out.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Deliveries are restricted too.<\/strong> No deliveries of alcoholic beverages are permitted to the parks except with a permit or the commissioner&#8217;s permission. No size condition is attached, so a pop-up canopy sits inside the rule alongside anything larger.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Stringing things up also needs one.<\/strong>\u00a0A permit is required to attach, string, adjust, or carry wire or other objects in, on, or over any part of a park, which includes festoon\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reventals.com\/westchester-ny\/av-lighting-rentals\/lighting-rentals\/?last_source_tracking=Event+Permits+in+Westchester%2C+NY+%7C+What+Does+Your+Event+Need%3F&amp;utm_campaign=Westchester+Marketing&amp;utm_medium=Blog\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lighting<\/a> and bunting.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Construction work needs its own permit<\/strong>, covering anything more substantial you might build for the day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Park hours run from dawn to dusk<\/strong>, or as otherwise posted. An evening event needs either a posted exception or a conversation with the department.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"amplified-sound\">Amplified Sound Permitting<\/h2>\n<p>We could not find an amplified sound provision in the county&#8217;s park ordinance. Treat music as an open question and ask the permit office when you apply, instead of assuming a neighboring jurisdiction&#8217;s answer applies here. Ask specifically about a DJ or a band, and about whether your site has any hours attached to it.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"alcohol-beyond-the-county-rules\">Alcohol Beyond the County Rules<\/h2>\n<p>New York&#8217;s state permit for serving at an event is unusual in one respect: it is open to anyone, with no requirement that the applicant be a nonprofit or an existing licence holder.<\/p>\n<p>That makes the state side more straightforward here than the county side. Your harder questions are local ones, about kegs, deliveries and who is allowed to sell.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Book early if your date is fixed.<\/strong> Group picnic reservations open on a published schedule ahead of each season, and the popular sites go quickly once they do. If your date matters more than your location, get in at the opening and do not wait.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"what-to-ask-before-you-book\">What to Ask Before You Book<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Is my site designated for picnics and eating?<\/li>\n<li><strong>Has my permit been issued before the day, and what does it cover?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Do I need the commissioner&#8217;s permission for a keg, and how long does that take?<\/li>\n<li>Can my drinks be delivered to the park, or do I carry them in?<\/li>\n<li>Does my permit cover a canopy, or is that a separate permit?<\/li>\n<li>Can I string lights, and does that need its own approval?<\/li>\n<li><strong>If someone is cooking:<\/strong> are they allowed to sell anything, and what does the concessionaire rule mean for them?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"the-offices-that-issue-westchester's-permits\">The Offices That Issue Westchester&#8217;s Permits<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Westchester County Parks:<\/strong> picnic and event permits, park bookings and the permit office.
